Choose a Canada eSIM by your dates, local-number needs, hotspot and US travel. Compare current package terms and CanadianSIM options.
The essentials
What to know first
- Start with requirements
Choose dates, countries, calling and hotspot before price.
- Compare total cost
Check currency, expiry and any recurring carrier bill.
- Check your phone
SIM support and carrier compatibility are separate checks.
In this guide
The best eSIM for Canada is the one that covers your dates, phone and required services at a cost you understand. Start with whether you need a Canadian number, a laptop hotspot or service across the US border. Those requirements eliminate unsuitable packages more reliably than a universal ranking.
| Your requirement | Where to start | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| A short visit with maps and app messages | Compare current Airalo, Nomad and Holafly travel packages. | Data, duration, network, currency and activation rule. |
| A Canadian number for a short stay | Compare packages that explicitly include native calls and SMS, including CanadianSIM prepaid. | Assigned number, calling destinations, SMS and verification limits. |
| A laptop hotspot | Inspect the selected travel package or qualifying monthly service. | Hotspot allowance; CanadianSIM prepaid currently excludes hotspot. |
| A longer move to Canada | Compare monthly service with the cost of repeated travel packages. | Eligibility, ongoing bills, cancellation and phone compatibility. |
| Canada and USA travel | Choose a package explicitly covering both countries. | Roaming countries, rather than only destinations you may call. |
Compare current offers without a misleading ranking
Airalo Canada packages provides package choices; check the selected data and telephone features. Nomad Canada packages lists package-specific networks and terms. Holafly Canada plan details offers unlimited phone data subject to fair use, with 1 GB/day of hotspot on its current Canada product. None of those descriptions establishes the best price or coverage for every journey.
For more detail, read Airalo versus Holafly and Nomad versus Airalo. These comparisons link to current provider terms and distinguish published features from measured performance.
CanadianSIM’s current choices
| Offer | Displayed price, CAD before tax | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| Prepaid 20 GB / 30 days | $40 | Canadian number and Canada calling; no hotspot or US roaming. |
| Prepaid 90 GB / 30 days | $55 | Canadian number and calls from Canada to Canada/USA; no hotspot or US roaming. |
| Rogers 100 GB monthly | $40/month | For qualifying longer stays; hotspot and Canada calling. |
| Rogers 120 GB monthly | $50/month | For qualifying longer stays; hotspot, Canada/USA calls and Canada/USA roaming. |
See CanadianSIM prepaid plans and CanadianSIM monthly plans for current availability and terms. On the monthly SIM-only offers, the checkout plan payment is a deposit credited to the first carrier bill; ongoing service is billed separately. The prepaid packages and monthly plans should not be compared as though their billing works the same way.
Check the phone before comparing more plans
An eSIM-capable model can still be locked to a carrier or be a regional version with different SIM support. An EID is useful device information, not a promise of carrier approval. Use the phone compatibility checker and confirm Canadian calling support with the intended carrier, particularly for an imported phone.
Use a short buying checklist
- Write down travel dates and every country where you need service.
- Separate internet use from native calls, texts and a local number.
- Count hotspot use as well as phone data.
- Compare the complete price in one currency, including any later monthly bills.
- Save delivery and activation instructions before travelling.
Questions before you buy
Is unlimited always better?
Only if its price and restrictions fit your use. High-speed allowances, fair-use rules and hotspot limits can differ.
Will a Canadian number work for every verification code?
No. Acceptance and delivery depend on the service sending the code, the number and the mobile plan.
Can a physical SIM solve an eSIM problem?
Sometimes it solves a SIM-format limitation. It does not remove a carrier lock or make an unsupported phone compatible.
