Library Information TechnologySAIT
Library Information Technology combines cataloguing, database searching, records management and services for library users. The two-year diploma ends with a four-week practicum in a library or a related information-management organization.

Mathematics is one possible subject rather than a compulsory one
The academic route requires English and two completed Grade 12 subjects from SAIT's list. That list includes mathematics, but also science, social science, accounting, law and a second language. LIBR 200 can replace one of the two subjects.

Tuition and listed additional fees
| Period | Semesters | Tuition | Additional fees | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | 2 | $17,671.50 | $1,764.50 | $19,436.00 |
| Year 2 | 2 | $16,830.00 | $1,764.50 | $18,594.50 |
| Published program total | $38,030.50 | |||
The additional-fee column is already included in each total. Year one is $19,436 and year two is $18,594.50, for $38,030.50 in published tuition and listed fees. Doubling the first-year figure would overstate this estimate.

Non-refundable · One application with ranked choices
Allow approximately $1,000–$1,500 per full-time year for books and supplies and bring a laptop that meets SAIT's device guidance. Include the final practicum when planning your study schedule.
Have SAIT assess the exact subjects and any LIBR 200 substitution you intend to use. The subject choices here should not be replaced with a generic mathematics requirement from another technology diploma.
Read the application payment guide ↗Check the academic route
SAIT assesses the documents and course equivalents for education completed outside Canada. Demonstrating English proficiency does not by itself establish that your academic subjects meet the program requirements.
Check the complete admission requirements ↗-
English subject
At least 60% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2, or an accepted equivalent.
-
Two Grade 12 subjects
Complete two subjects chosen from mathematics, science, social science, accounting, law or a second language. SAIT does not state an individual 60% minimum for these two subjects in this block.
-
Course substitution and assessment
LIBR 200, Introduction to Libraries, may substitute for one of the two Grade 12 subjects. English proficiency and assessment of education completed outside Canada still apply.
English proficiency is a separate requirement
Assessment results must be from within the year before your application. A transfer or deferral can require updated results when that period has passed.

- Education in EnglishOfficial transcripts or a completed international assessment must verify at least three years of full-time secondary study in English at 12 or more hours a week, or at least two years of study taught in English at a recognized post-secondary institution, or a recognized English-taught credential from a SAIT-approved institution.
- A post-secondary English courseA credit course in English, comparative literature, communications or an equivalent at SAIT or a recognized post-secondary institution requires at least a C.
- English Language FoundationsThe SAIT route requires both COMN 155 and SPCH 155. Other recognized pathways have their own levels and assessment conditions; check the complete policy before choosing one.
The last four weeks are spent on practicum
Complete 61.5 credits across 24 required courses over four semesters. The practicum occupies the final four weeks of semester four. A coordinator works with students to find a placement; that support does not establish that a placement is paid.
