The essentials

What to know first

  1. Checkout

The SIM-only plan payment is a deposit.

  2. First bill

Look for the credit and check the service dates and other items.

  3. Ongoing cost

Monthly service and any handset financing are separate obligations.

For CanadianSIM’s current Rogers monthly SIM-only offers, the plan payment at checkout is a deposit credited to your first carrier bill. Monthly service continues to generate carrier bills until it is cancelled under the applicable terms. Keep the initial payment, the advertised monthly price and the first invoice as three separate figures.

Follow the payment from order to carrier billing
Stage What it represents What to keep or check
CanadianSIM checkout The plan deposit for the selected SIM-only offer Order receipt, selected plan and any separately displayed tax or delivery charge.
First carrier bill Carrier service charges and applicable credits or other items Service dates, monthly charge, deposit credit, taxes and any one-time items.
Later carrier bills Ongoing monthly service and any applicable additional charges The plan price, current promotion, usage charges and payment due date.

Current SIM-only prices

Plan amounts checked October 16, 2026
Offer Advertised monthly service price Checkout plan deposit
Rogers 100 GB CAD40/month, taxes extra CAD40 plan amount, credited to the first carrier bill.
Rogers 120 GB CAD50/month, taxes extra CAD50 plan amount, credited to the first carrier bill.

These figures come from the current CanadianSIM monthly plans and product listings. They do not quote an exact first invoice or a tax-inclusive checkout total. Read the order summary for the amount you are actually paying.

Why the first bill may differ from the headline price

Rogers explains that it bills monthly service in advance and that a first wireless bill may include a partial service period as well as the next full billing cycle. Check the dates rather than assuming every first invoice is one simple monthly charge. See Rogers: understanding wireless bill charges.

The amount due also depends on applicable taxes, credits and any additional charges on the account. This guide does not calculate your proration or assume when a particular credit will appear. If the expected deposit credit is absent or unclear, contact CanadianSIM with the order reference and the relevant bill details through its support channel.

A simple way to read the amounts

If you choose the CAD40 monthly offer, record the CAD40 checkout plan deposit and the CAD40 advertised recurring service charge separately. The deposit should be credited to the first carrier bill; it does not turn all later months into prepaid service. Use the actual invoice to reconcile the credit, service periods, taxes and any other items.

A phone bundle is a separate decision

A SIM-only service price does not include a new phone. If you choose a handset bundle, read the device price, financing term, monthly device charge, any upfront payment and what becomes due if service or financing ends early. Do not infer those obligations from the SIM-only comparison above. This explainer does not quote the Galaxy A17 financing offer.

Check these details before paying

  1. The exact plan, recurring price and any conditions attached to a promotion.
  2. The plan deposit, taxes and any delivery charges shown at checkout.
  3. The scheduled activation date and what happens if your arrival changes.
  4. Where to find the carrier account and first invoice.
  5. How to cancel when service is no longer needed, including any separate device obligations.

For a short visit, compare the prepaid travel packages separately. Their fixed validity and reactivation terms differ from an ongoing monthly account. Deleting an eSIM profile from a phone is not the same as cancelling monthly service.

Questions before you buy

Does paying at checkout mean there will be no carrier bill?

No. For these monthly offers it is a deposit credited to the first carrier bill.

Can this page tell me my exact first bill?

No. That requires your activation date, billing cycle, applicable taxes, credits and account-specific items.

What should I keep after ordering?

Keep the order receipt and reference, the selected offer terms and the carrier agreement so you can compare them with the first bill.
