International students must attend the in-person sessions

The college describes flexible hyflex and competency-based study but specifically requires international students to attend in-person sessions. Plan around that condition rather than treating the certificate as wholly remote. The mandatory final placement follows completion of coursework and the pre-placement requirements.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

Subject requirements or one of two alternatives

The first route needs both English and eligible Grade 10 mathematics. Keyboarding at 25 words per minute is strongly recommended; it is separate from the listed academic entry alternatives.

  1. School subjects

Credit in English Language Arts 30-1 or at least 65% in 30-2, or equivalent, and credit in Grade 10 mathematics excluding Math 10-4 and Math 16.

  2. GED

Successful completion of the five-test GED with standard scores of at least 520 in Language Arts Reading and Writing, and 450 in Mathematics.

  3. College assessment

Satisfactory results on Bow Valley College's Admission and Placement Test. English proficiency and assessment of education completed outside Canada remain separate checks.

Check English proficiency separately

The general language table offers IELTS Academic at 6.0 in every band, TOEFL 83, Duolingo 110, CLB 8 in each strand, PTE Academic 59–64 as displayed, or BVC Academic English 2 at B−. Academic English 1 is not accepted under that table. These language routes do not remove the program's in-person attendance requirement.

Education alternatives

  • Canadian English courseSuccessful completion of the Alberta English Language Arts course, or equivalent education in Canada, that meets the certificate's academic English condition.
  • English-medium secondary studyTranscripts documenting three years of full-time high school taught in English.
  • English-medium post-secondary studyTranscripts documenting successful completion of one full-time post-secondary year taught in English.

THE COURSE SEQUENCE

Thirty-three credits ending in field placement

The eight required courses total 15 credits in term one, 15 in term two and three in the final placement term. ADMN 1950 is the required unpaid four-week work experience. The generic 15-credit-per-term description should not be multiplied into a 45-credit certificate. Some placement agencies may require a Police Information Check; it is not a universal Vulnerable Sector Search rule in this source.

PREPARING FOR THE PROGRAM

Prepare for the final unpaid placement

  • Finish the coursework and required pre-placement steps before the four-week work experience. Ask about any agency-specific Police Information Check.
  • Use the actual three-credit final term and your confirmed timetable when budgeting. A general course-load description does not establish the same number of classroom courses in every term.

Sources and planning scope

Sources checked 29 October 2026. The tuition dataset identifies 2026-27. The intake resource has conflicting freshness metadata, so its observed labels require confirmation before use as current availability. Individual admission, equivalency and immigration decisions remain with the relevant institution or authority.
