In this guide
Airalo and Holafly can both serve a Canada trip, but compare the selected package’s data, hotspot allowance and calling features. A brand name alone does not tell you what is included. Holafly’s current Canada plan has a daily hotspot allowance; older claims that it offers only 500 MB for the entire trip are out of date.
| Decision | Airalo | Holafly Canada |
|---|---|---|
| Package choice | The Canada store includes data and data/calls/text filters. Inspect the package you select. | Unlimited phone data for a chosen duration; fair-use conditions apply. |
| Laptop or shared connection | Hotspot depends on device/network support and uses the selected allowance. | 1 GB of hotspot data per day. |
| Traditional calls and SMS | Confirm the chosen package, number and destinations; do not infer these from the brand. | The Canada travel product is data-only; app calls use data. |
| Price comparison | Check the checkout currency, data allowance and validity together. | Check the price for your exact number of days and its currency. |

Match the plan to the way you travel
For maps, messages and occasional browsing, start by checking your recent mobile-data use. A fixed allowance may cover the trip without paying for a larger package. If you watch video away from Wi-Fi, compare an unlimited offer’s fair-use terms as well as its advertised data.
For a working trip, estimate laptop use separately. A plan that covers video on the phone may still restrict sharing with a laptop. Neither the word “unlimited” nor a working hotspot switch proves that all tethered use is included. Keep cloud backups and software downloads in mind when judging a daily allowance.
Check what “calls included” actually means
A WhatsApp call uses internet data. A native mobile call uses a telephone service and its calling allowance. Before relying on a number for a hotel, employer or account, confirm that the specific package supplies the number you need and supports the relevant calls or SMS. No provider can promise that every bank or verification service will accept a number.
CanadianSIM’s current prepaid Canada offers include a Canadian number and calling, but do not include hotspot or US roaming. Its monthly Rogers offers include hotspot and suit qualifying longer stays. Compare these limitations as carefully as their benefits.
Before switching your data line
- Confirm your phone’s exact version and unlock status with the phone checker.
- Save the package’s validity and activation instructions before installing it.
- Use Wi-Fi for installation and label the new line clearly.
- Choose the intended data line and review your home carrier’s roaming settings. Keep your original line only if you understand any charges.
- Test the services you bought after activation. Do not delete an eSIM to troubleshoot unless the provider tells you to.
Questions before you buy
Which is cheaper for a week in Canada?
Compare current prices for the same dates and allowance, in the same currency. We have not established a permanent price winner.
Can I use the same package in the USA?
Only if the package explicitly covers the USA. Calls to US numbers from Canada are a separate feature.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
You may be able to keep the home line alongside the travel line, depending on your device. Installing a travel eSIM does not transfer that number to a new provider.
