Bow Valley also offers a separate four-term Software Development diploma. This page covers the two-term post-diploma certificate, whose entry requirements include a previous qualification and Math 30-1 or 30-2. The dean may occasionally approve special acceptance based on equivalent work experience, education or training; that is an assessed exception rather than automatic work-only admission.

A prior qualification and the Math requirement
Previous education or work in a technical field is recommended. The published academic route does not specify a mandatory technical major or a minimum GPA, and the recommendation does not replace the required admission assessment.
-
Standard route
Completion of a degree or diploma AND credit in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2, or an accepted equivalent.
-
Special acceptance
The dean may occasionally approve an equivalent combination of work experience, education and training. Ask for an assessment; the notice does not establish a universal Math waiver.
-
Language and international documents
Meet the separate English proficiency policy and have prior education completed outside Canada assessed through the college's country-specific document process. A foreign degree does not automatically waive English proficiency.
Check English proficiency separately
The general program policy offers IELTS Academic 6.0 in each band, TOEFL 83, Duolingo 110, CLB 8 in each strand, PTE Academic 59–64 as printed, or BVC Academic English 2 at B−. Academic English 1 is not accepted in that table. Official test results must remain valid at program start within the two-year validity period.
Education alternatives
- Canadian English subjectThe policy allows a qualifying Alberta English Language Arts course or equivalent Canadian education where it meets the program's academic English condition. Confirm the route's applicability to this prior-qualification program.

Use the minimum Windows specification when planning equipment
- The minimum is current Windows 11; an Intel Core i5 from the 13th generation or newer, or AMD Ryzen 5 equivalent; 16GB RAM; a 512GB SSD; a 14-inch or larger Full HD display; graphics, webcam, microphone and reliable internet.
- Core i7, Core Ultra 7 or Ryzen 7, 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD and backup are recommendations. MacOS is unsupported; the stated requirement concerns Windows and software compatibility rather than the computer brand alone.
- Flexible learning spaces do not establish a wholly online international route. Confirm the actual timetable and current intake with the college; an observed Open label is not a seat guarantee.
